Working together to look after the interests and development of Structural Engineers both in South Africa and internationally.

Structural Engineering deals with the analysis & design of structures that are to bear loads.
The structures are usually buildings or bridges, but could also be mechanical structures like vehicles or aircraft. The applied loads could be static like the self-weight of the structure or dynamic like wind, people or earthquakes.

In South Africa the Joint Structural Division (JSD) is a division of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE) that is joined with the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) based in London.
